Long distance runner Jo Pavey has been announced as ambassador for the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run and is encouraging the public to sign up for the 10km event, taking place February 1.

The aim is to encourage runners of all abilities to keep fit through the winter months, a time when traditionally runners do no training at all. Pavey, an Olympic gold medallist, commented 'The run is especially important to me as it's supporting such a great cause in Cancer Research UK. I'd ask everyone taking part to make a special effort to raise money for research into the causes, treatment and prevention of cancer'.
